DYDD GLYNDWR 16 MEDI 2008 - ADVANCE NOTICE

.
16 Medi is our 'National Heroes Day' and we call for national celebrations throughout Wales and the world, preferably, on the exact commemorative date upon which the Founding Fathers met to discuss and agree to a war of national liberation. This decision, as we all know by now of course, led to the assembly of Owain Glyndŵr's army of national liberation
atop of Caerdrewyn on the 18th September, where the flag of war was raised prior to the attack on Ruthin.

To clarify:

We also call for the re-establishment of an annual national commemoration at Corwen on the Saturday following the 16th Medi. Apart from a special "one off" local event organised in 2004, there has been no national commemmorative event organised for Corwen since the COFIWN days. Last year, a fantastic statue of Owain Glyndŵr on horseback was unveiled at Corwen and it would be wonderful to witness the re-kindling of a national commemmorative event in the town - with this statue as a central point of patriotic focus and attention. But, who will organize? It has to be a locally based group if the event is to grow and survive into the far distant future. If there are people from the Corwen area interested, please contact me. We will assist as much as possible to set the wheels in motion - as we have recently done with the annual 21 Mehefin Dydd Coroni event to be held annually at Machynlleth (see http://cenedl.blogspot.com)

Who will pick up the gauntlet for Corwen and Glyndŵr?

Also if anyone out there is organising a 16 Medi Dydd Glyndŵr event, do send us the info so that we can spread the word via a listing that will be published during the first week of Medi
